I'm accustomed enough with STALKER to play on Master difficulty (with a little frustration) and I'm also playing with no crosshair to help with immersion. LURK does a great job of really paring down the interface so its just you, a few vital stats and the game.
My favourite weapon tends to change from mod to mod. In Vanilla stalker it was probably a fully loaded LR300 (suppressor, sight, grenade launcher) with a fully loaded AK-74 Rapid as a close second. In OL it was definitely the Groza OC-14 with suppressor and PSO-1 scope. I'm also a big fan of machine pistols throughout the series, and the SVD is really great in mods where the sight doesn't wander too badly.
As for crazy stuff, I think storming the millitary base in an APC when I played Oblivion Lost mod was pretty awesome. I tried sneaking in a dozen times and just got frustrated so I went all GTA on them.
You sure can drive vehicles in OL. There's a car, a shitty Jeep and an armored transport. All of them have hilarious physics and if you drive one into an anomaly you FLY LIKE AN EAGLE.
I am in fact designing (and running) a STALKER rpg, based on the D20 system. I may do a thread in other projects where I'll dump the rules as I tinker with them.
